Born in Lisbon, graduated from the Faculty of Law, University of Lisbon.
She gained a Master’s (LLM) degree in law from the same university in June 2000, with a final grade of 18/20. Her dissertation, which has been published, dealt with an aspect of contract law: The concept of benefit and the recipient of consideration, Editora Almedina, Coimbra, 2001. She has been accepted for a doctorate by Lisbon University, taking as her subject: The theory of difference in civil liability: the legal provisions, shortcomings and virtues.
She has lectured since 1993 at the Faculty of Law, University of Lisbon, and she has also been seconded to the Faculty of Law in Guinea-Bissau. Her subject areas have included Commercial Law, the Law of Obligations, Introduction to Legal Studies and General Theory of Civil Law. She also holds office on the boards of the Lisbon Law Faculty.
She has contributed as lecturer to various postgraduate courses and conferences.
